vga, Great to hear that your daughter has stopped all those products, but something more likely to help keep her bowels moving, instead of a good probiotic...which I am a big fan of are.... Water, Fiber and Exercise. Make sure she is drinking lots of water. If she exercises or is overweight she should be drinking more than 8 glasses a day. Get a good fiber supplement. I am not a big fan of the commercially sold one's because they have either too much sugar, which slows your bowels down, or artificial sweeteners. I also recommend most of my patients to shy away from psyllium, because a small percentage of people (maybe 25%) are sensitive...I like ground up flax. A couple of spoonfuls of that a day will help, but remember you have to drink enough water. Lastly exercise. It's amazing how exercise is always part of any health question, but when you start to exercise it helps the bowels to continue to move. Give those a try and see what happens. Do try and stay away from coffee because even though it helps the bowels to move....it is a stimulant and some people don't need to be stimulated. Dr. Len
