Food Combining Questions

To keep your blood sugar stable you recommend eating proteins and fats with your meals. I am confused on the food combining however. If I eat a baked potato, I'm not supposed to eat protein with it for food combining, but for my sugar, I should? As far as food combining, what should I eat with a baked potato so that it does not cause blood sugar problems?

Also, how would you classify ezekiel bread in food combining? Can I have ezekiel bread with proteins?

Thanks,

Tracey

Ashley,

As far as food combining and trying to keep your blood sugar stable...maybe a baked potato is getting you off on the wrong foot to begin with.

Yes, you want protein and good fat to help stabilize the sugar, but you may need to focus more on one than the other for a short time period as you try and get your digesive system function properly.

after that eating a potato with some protein won't be bad for you...its just that it's a little more difficult to digest and for some people with a weakened digestive system they need to eat foods that combine easier or better.

Hope that helps,

Dr. Len

Thanks, that makes sense. What about the ezekiel bread, ,should it be considered a vegetable or grain for food combining, since it is a sprouted grain?

Also, I take black strap molasses every day. I had heard that it is very good for diabetes, but I take it mainly for all the minerals in it, including potassium. Do you think it is ok for blood sugar? I do make it a point to get light exersize after taking it. If you recommend it, how much?

I am a fan of ezekiel bread and enjoy it myself. As far as if it is a grain or veggie? that is a good question and probably can be discovered with a bit of searching on the internet. It is definitely good for diabetes, becasue it is considered a low to moderate glycemic food, which also helps for energy and weight loss.

I am also a fan of black strap molasses. I don't use it but it is much better to use than simple sugar the next time you are cooking or baking...but you might also try using agave, which is what we sweeten our NatraLean health bars with.
