Is there a natural product that supports the Thyroid that you would recommend to someone who has symptoms of Adrenal
fatigue/exhaustion and hypothyroidism? I just started taking your Adrenal Fuel but also have symptoms of low
thyroid.

KatieK,

About 80-90 percent of my thyroid patients don't even know they have an adrenal problem...until they find me or another doctor who practices natural medicine. Add to that about 90 percent of almost all thyroid problems are a result of a primary adrenal (stress) problem. Meaning the thyroid is a secondary problem. Unfortunately traditional medicine only treats thyroid problems and completely casts a blank eye to any adrenal problems. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that their is NOT a handy-dandy drug that has been one of the top 10 selling drugs for the past 30 years to prescribe has anything to do with it.

Anyway, when I formulated the Adrenal Fuel, I specifically added some nutrients that will help the thyroid, specifically selenium and iodine. I know many of my patients that come in with hypothyroid problems....and if we suspect the adrenals we give them both a formula for their adrenals such as Adrenal Fuel....and we might also give them some additional support for their thyroid.

I would definitely have your adrenal glands assessed to see if they are functioning properly. That would be the first step to accurately define what is truly at the root of your problem. the reason we need to look at the adrenals (check out the link consulting and testing) is because cortisol interferes with thyroid hormones. If your cortisol levels have been high...that is what is affecting your thyroid hormones.

Please take a few minutes to review several of the articles, BLOG especailly and radio shows that have been done on this subject....it is a big question.

Appreciate your question, sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Thank you Dr Len for your response.

I hope to be able to do your health analysis and saliva
test soon.

I suspect that I am facing adrenal fatigue/exhaustion. I
have been living under a lot of "stress" for the past 3
years especially. About a year and a half ago I started on
the Isagenix Cleansing and Fat Burning system. I lost 70
pounds in about 9 months, but have come to a stand still in
the past 6 months. I have been suspicious of a low thyroid
but my medical doctor keeps telling me that my thyroid is
normal. I did the testing of my temperature for 6 days in
a row and it fell between 96.7 and 95.7. I also did the
iodine tincture test on the inside of my forearm and within
12 hours it was completely gone.

I have been working nights the last 2 years and have no
doubt that that has had a big impact on my adrenal system.
I sleep for about 4-5 hours and then wake up and have a
hard time going back to sleep.

I did read your book and it really makes sense .... I think
I am beginning to put all of the pieces together as to why
I have been eating so little, upping my exercise, and not
losing weight and not sleeping much. It is finally maybe
answering some questions for me.

Sorry ....didn't mean to rattle on so much. The one thing
that puzzles me is that I have been taking a great nutritional product for stress with Isagenix (Ionix Supreme) which I thought would have supported my Adrenals.
I guess we will find out when I do the test in the near
future. In the meantime, should I continue to take the
Adrenal Fuel until I can do the test? Will you be able to
determine if my thyroid needs more support than what is in
the Adrenal Fuel at the time of my test as well?

I have also been dealing with depression somewhat. I
understand that that can be a "thyroid" thing too.

I have about 50 pounds that I want to still take off. I
hope that we can get to the bottom of why I've quit losing
and "fix it" so I can continue.

Thanks, again, for your time and dedication to this
topic.

Blessings,
Katie

Katie,

Sorry to hear you hit a plateau, a lot of times that happens, and a lot of the time it happens because your body has gone to the next level....meaning if you start exercising you will start losing X amount of weight, but you might reach a point that you plateau at...but as soon as you start dieting properly, you begin to clear that plateau and lose more....but than you hit another plateau and this time it is because your adrenals and thyroid may be out of whack, which controls how your body burns calories.....and as soon as you start addressing that issue you will again move past that next plateau.

So if it is hormonal, as i suspect, let me know what we can do to help, remember a majority of my patients with thyroid problems are finally able to get this moving in the right direction when we start to address their adrenal problem.

As to why, whatever you are taking isn't helping could be a number of reasons.....take a look at our Health Protocol and follow our Healthy Steps IRS Program....also it could be what is in the product, how much of each, etc....

Let us know when and how we can help you,

Dr. Len
